First in a three-part series of pictures of The Badlands in South Dakota. Shot midday so the light is poor. If you want to shoot this place, it is best that you do it just after a rainfall. The sediment layers turn vivid colors and, because the overall terrain is a massive, ancient seabed plain, you could expect to see 40 miles from most of the places these pictures were taken.
