Various Hibiscus shots taken while I was in Mexico, most with a 55mm - 210mm telephoto lens from approximately 2 feet away (approximately 60cm). Some were shot at night using high ISO settings. Biggest problem was the unrelenting , but soft, tropical breeze, both day and night. All of these blooms were moving in the breeze; Long shutter times were not possible. Mediocre results at best but still worth sharing the flowers with you. Some of these you see here are 6 inches (15 cm) across.
